The Kurt Lewin Center for Psychological Research, was initiated by the participants of the International Conference “Kurt Lewin: Contribution to Contemporary Psychology (10-12 September, 2004, Mogilno-Bydgoszcz, Poland) organized by Institute of Psychology (Kazimierz Wielki University).

Formally, this center was established as an international entity of the Kazimierz Wielki University on March 2005 with the seat in the building of Collegium Psychologicum, were the Institute of Psychology is also located. The center is an unique institution whose aim is to develop and expand Kurt Lewin’s theory.

The members of the Center come from many of the Member States and the Associated States of European Union (Germany, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Israel, Poland) and from the United States of America as well. The center attracts many eminent scientists from different fields of knowledge (psychology, sociology, philosophy)

It should be mentioned, that some of the Centre’s members are Kurt Lewin’s students who worked with him in the USA, and who are still active scientist: Prof. Beatrice Wright and Prof. Albert Pepitone. Many of them were students and/or co-workers of Lewin’s students: Prof. Bertram Raven (Festinger, Cartwright, French), Prof. Wolfgang Schoenpflug (Heider), Prof. Robert Kleiner (Pepitone), Prof. Richard Schmuck (Lippitt), Prof. Larry Sherman (Kounin) et al.. The members of Kurt Lewin Center are leading scientists in different psychological domains, mainly in the personality and social psychology. The honorary member of our Centre is Tomas Lewin, a nephew of Kurt Lewin.

We would like to inform that on 1st April 2005 the Rector of Kazimierz Wielki University appointed the Executive Committee of the Kurt Lewin Center for Psychological Research at Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoscz with Prof. Janusz Trempała as the Director, Prof. Włodzimierz Zeidler and Remigiusz Koc as the Secretary.
